Wake up, workout, EAT!

Yum yum yum! I don't know about you, but I can get quite the appetite after I workout. Thursday's kickboxing class had me working up a sweat so I ran home, took a quick shower, and quickly prepared a nice protein packed lunch! My post workout lunch consisted of some quinoa and egg white leftovers that I had prepared the night before, and a yummy vanilla whey protein shake. What are your favorite post workout meals?

Thursday Morning

Thursdays are my days off so I take full advantage of them! I like to think I can sleep in, but sadly 8 am is sleeping in for me. My body is used to getting up early so it just wakes itself up! I love mornings and this one consisted of some coffee and morning news :) I have been hanging out at my parents house because we have family in town, so I have had a lot of fun! Today my cousin and I plan to go geocaching because the weather is warming up! I've never been so it should be fun. Tonight we are going bowling with some friends. Should be a good day off!

Good (gluten-free) Morning!

I am experimenting with gluten free this week, because my stomach has not felt the best after eating breads and "gluten-y" foods lately. It has been going on for a while, but that's another story. Mom and I went grocery shopping yesterday and picked up a few gluten free items. I saw this cereal and decided to give it a try and I am so glad I did! I am a sucker for anything vanilla flavored, but this was just delicious. It also has a good amount of fiber and minimal carbs and sugar (for a cereal) as well. I highly recommend it! Even if your not gluten intolerant, it is a very yummy breakfast!

Saturday Bike Ride!

Today was a beautiful day in Boise! Yes folks, 60 degrees and a little sunshine is considered a gorgeous day. I'm not complaining! My cousin is in town from San Diego and had never been on the greenbelt, so we decided to go! Idaho is so pretty and I am reminded of that every time I step outside. Behind me is a view of the Boise river! We biked for about 2 miles, and then decided to grab some lunch.

There was a Wendy's nearby, so we stopped in. I know you're thinking, "What! Fast food after some healthy exercising?!" but there can be healthy alternatives everywhere! Earlier this week I heard about their apple pecan salad, and had to try it. It was SO delicious! Yummy chicken, cranberries, pecans, bleu cheese crumbles topped with a pomegranate vinegarette. I have to admit though, that I did splurge and get a chocolate frosty. I had to!

Spring is around the corner!

The weather has been off and on here in Boise, jumping from really rainy to really awesome and sunny. A couple days ago I scored this gem at the store, and was so excited to plant her so the outside of my house can look a little cuter! I love succulents and thought this was just perfect. Hooray for warmer weather! Decorating my own place has been so much fun, if only my wallet could agree. Happy weekend everybody!

Monday afternoon HIIT cycling!

This week I tried out a new workout routine I found on Pinterest. It looked hard and intense so I decided to give it a try! Here is the link if you're interested: http://blog.shareitfitness.com/2012/total-body-blitz-workout-pt1/

Monday called for 60 minutes of high intensity cycling. I rarely use the bike when I'm at the gym so an hour of it was intimidating! Regardless, I hopped on and cycled away. The hour passed quicker than I thought it would. After the workout, I was in such a good mood. It is incredible what exercise can do for you!

Blackberry Protein Smoothie

Today was one of those nights where I just needed something else to follow my salad for dinner! I had a pretty intense cycling session at the gym this afternoon, so my body needed a strong dinner to recover! I made a yummy salad, but was craving some protein and some fruit. I had some strawberries and blackberries left over from my grocery haul last week, so I decided to make a smoothie! For just being something I threw together, I was so shocked at how delicious this smoothie was. I haven't made a ton of smoothies in my twenty years, but this was hands-down the best one I've ever made!

I used:
-6 oz. of blackberries
-3 strawberries
-6 oz. blueberry greek yogurt
-1 scoop of vanilla protein powder
-A little less than 1 cup of V8 Berry Blend Juice
-1 cup of ice

I know 3 strawberries and "a little less than 1 cup" of V8 sounds weird, but my strawberries were old (ew) so I picked out the only 3 good strawberries left in the container. I also used the last of my V8 juice.

Friday Morning Breakfast!

So a couple mornings ago I had a pretty delicious breakfast! My mom got me an egg sandwich toaster for Christmas. You read that right. A toaster that makes the perfect egg breakfast sandwich! It is amazing. I have discovered a love for egg whites. Yummy! And less fattening :) I normally like some sausage or turkey bacon on my breakfast sandwiches, but was fresh out! My oatmeal is Oatfit Cinnamon Roll Flavor. Let me just say this is the most delicious and nutritious oatmeal I have ever come across! I throw some chia seed in mine and it the perfect energy-packed, quick & easy breakfast for me before work or the gym. Have I mentioned my love of coffee? I scored a french press on Groupon last week for $3.99. It is great!

Hello!

Zack & I on 2/14/14!
Well here is my first post! I'll start out by saying I am pretty excited to start this blog. Honestly, I feel like I'm the only one who will ever see this, mainly because I have never blogged before and don't really know what I'm doing... So here goes nothing! I'll start by saying I'm twenty years old, living in Boise, Idaho. Idaho is a beautiful state and while I was born in California, I have to say that Idaho is definitely my home. I have a boyfriend who doubles as my best friend (score!) named Zack. I was going to school, but I am taking this semester (or year...;) off. I have a wonderful family whom I love more than anything. I have a fondness of mornings, coffee, crafting, shopping, a good workout, and the outdoors. I've recently moved out on my own and have discovered that I like to bake! I'm no expert, and I'm definitely still learning. I have created this blog mainly for myself. Okay like totally for myself. I figured it would be a good outlet for me to journal and process all of my thoughts and ideas. And trust me, there are quite a few of them! Okay let's do this!
